# Why your content was hidden, and how to appeal

> What it means when a trip or review is hidden, where to see the reason, and how to ask a person to look again.

If something you published was hidden, you get a notification and a reason, and **Settings ▸ Account status** keeps the record. Most decisions can be appealed, and an appeal is read by a person.

## What does hidden mean?

Nobody else can open it. **You still can** — it stays in your list with a banner explaining why, and nothing is deleted while an appeal is possible.

Hiding is reversible in a way deleting is not, which is why it is the first step rather than the last.

## Why was mine hidden?

Either enough different people reported it, an automated check flagged it, or a moderator decided it breaks the [community guidelines](/guidelines).

The reason is on the banner and on **Settings ▸ Account status**. Some hides are provisional — applied automatically while a person gets to it — which is exactly why they are appealable.

## How do I appeal?

**Settings ▸ Account status** lists every decision with an appeal button. Explain in your own words why you think it was wrong.

One open appeal per decision, and one attempt per decision within a month — the limit exists so the queue stays short enough that appeals actually get read.

## I got a warning but nothing was hidden

A warning is a note on your account with nothing taken down. It is a signal, and it is also a record — a second warning is recorded as a second warning, not folded into the first.

Warnings can be appealed like anything else.

## My whole account is suspended

You cannot sign in, so the appeal cannot live inside the app. The suspension email carries a link to a web form; if you no longer have it, the form can send a fresh link to your address.

Suspensions are reversible, and an appeal that succeeds restores the account rather than rebuilding it.

## What happens after I appeal?

A person reads it and either restores the content or leaves the decision standing, and you are told which.

If a decision is overturned, the content comes back as it was — nothing was deleted in the meantime.
