# How to read a trip written in another language > Translate trips, stop notes and reviews into your app language with one tap, and switch back to the original whenever you like. Tap **See translation** under a trip's description, on a stop, or under a review, and the text switches to the language your app is set to. **See original** switches it back. Titles in the feed may already be translated for you; the small translate icon beside them shows which version you are reading. ## How do I translate something? Look for **See translation**: - on a trip, under its description — the title, the description, the best time to visit, the trip-wide notes and the thoughts on its transport are translated together; - on a stop, under its time and cost — its notes, its coloured notes and the thoughts on the transport to and from it together; - under each review on the Ratings page. The translation replaces the text and is marked **Automatically translated**. Tap **See original** to go back; switching again is instant, because the translation is kept. ## Which language does it translate into? Always the language the app is set to: English, French, Arabic, German, Spanish or Chinese. To read a trip in another one, change the app language in [settings](/help/app-settings#language) first. The original can be in almost any language. ## What gets translated, and what doesn't? Translated: trip titles and descriptions, the best-time-to-visit note, trip-wide and stop notes, thoughts on transport, and reviews. Not translated: place names and addresses, and a transport line and its direction, which stay as written so they still match the signs and the map; and usernames and display names. ## Why are some feed titles already in my language? Titles of public trips are translated ahead of time, so the feed can show them in your language without you asking. A title written in a language you list as spoken on your profile shows as written, with a small translate icon you can tap for the translation. Any other title shows translated, with the icon lit to say so — tap it for the original. ## Why is there no See translation button? Usually because the text is already in your app language. When Ntripi could not tell which language a text is in, the button is offered anyway, and disappears if the translation finds it was in your language all along. There is no button while you are editing a trip — you always edit the original — nor on a trip opened from a shared link in a browser, nor when translation is unavailable for your app language. ## What if a translation doesn't work? The original stays on screen, with a line saying why: - **Translation isn't available right now** — nothing is lost; try again later. - **You've reached the translation limit** — each account has an hourly allowance, which ordinary reading rarely reaches. It resets within the hour. - **Couldn't translate** — usually the connection. Check it and tap **See translation** again. Translations are made by machine. If one reads oddly, **See original** is one tap away. ## Who sees the text I ask to translate? The text goes to a translation service — OpenAI, or Microsoft's Azure AI Translator as a backup — with the language to translate it into, and nothing else: no name, no account, no link to the trip. Each translation is stored with the text it was made from and reused for the next reader who asks for the same language. It is deleted when the author edits or deletes the original, and content hidden by moderation is never translated.
